eTool outspoken on Green rating schemes


eTool, the providers of eToolLCD, the web-based Life Cycle Design app for the built space, have recently published a number of blog articles expressing strong opinions about Green rating schemes.

They have come out in favour of adopting the “Super Credit” based on the life cycle methodology as an innovation credit in schemes like Green Star and ISCA. In their article they say, “LCA could be used to reward not only ‘materials’ but also the ‘greenhouse gas emissions’ and ‘potable water’ credits when whole building LCA is considered.”

eTool have also expressed their disagreement with the method selected for the version 1.2 of the Green Star Design and As Built, stating that it could lead to poor outcomes for the planet. Click here to read the full article.
