ALCAS member eTool has their say on Green Star changes
In recent articles eTool have come out strongly in favour of Green Star Future Focus but turned a thumbs down on Green Star Design & As Built v1.2. In their response to the Future Focus consultation paper, eTool have given enthusiastic support for some of the ambitious changes laid out in the Green Star for New Buildings paper. They agree with the proposal to integrate energy, water and materials into a single category, and the move to redefine 5Star and 6 Star requirements. See their full article here. However, eTool have come out strongly to say that the Building Life Cycle Impact Reduction credit in version 1.2 has significant gaps and could lead to poor outcomes for the planet. See their full article here which includes examples of instances when the method may fail.
