Life cycle assessment should be an integral part of engineering education for sustainability. This is not the case in all Australian degrees, but is normal in northern Europe, as reflected in a new textbook for undergraduate and Masters students.
Greg Peters and Magdalena Svanström have just published Environmental Sustainability for Engineers and Applied Scientists with Cambridge University Press. In this book, LCA is explained and placed on a continuum of environmental assessment frameworks ranging from fundamental modelling of natural processes to international environmental law and multicriteria decision-making.
