A minor update of the ‘Best Practice Guide for Life Cycle Impact Assessment in Australia’ has been conducted. It involved updating the lists characterization factors for the recommended impact assessment methods, so they reflect the latest versions of the source methods. These factors are contained in the Supplementary Annex Spreadsheet that accompanies the Guide, which is available from the ALCAS website.
It is expected that a major update of the Best Practice Guide will be due within the next year, to reflect recent developments in international method consensus process occurring as part of the UN Life Cycle Initiative. ALCAS members who are interested in learning more about, or getting up to date with, impact assessment methods are welcome to help the ALCAS Impact Assessment Committee with this task. Please contact the Chair if you’d like to get involved.
