The Australasian EPD Programme is continuing to grow with eleven new EPDs published sso far this year. A further twenty EPDs are expected to be published this year. The new EPDS are Innowood Building Products, James Hardie External Claddings, ASP Access Floors, Karndean Looselay Polyvinyl Flooring, Holcim Reinforced Concrete Pipes, BlueScope COLORBOND®, Zip Industries HydroTap, Fibrecon EMesh and Dulux Paints (wall, ceiling and preparation paints). Golden Bay Cement in New Zealand has also recently joined the programme and is expected to publish their first EPD soon.
The Secretariat and the Technical Advisory Group have been working behind the scenes to tighten up both internal and external policies and procedures. Recent appointments in the Technical Advisory Group have included Andrew Moore as Chairperson, Jonas Bengtsson as Vice-chairperson and new members Rob Rouwette of Start2See and Kimberly Robertson of Catalyst Ltd.
In our last update we talked about how the Programme has recently updated its’ Australasian Annex to the International EPD System General Programme Instructions (GPIs) version 2.5. The International EPD System is now working on reviewing the GPIand is expected to publish version 3 by the end of the year. Once completed the Technical Advisory Group will review the Australasian Annex to see if any changes are needed.
