Eleven CEOs of leading tyre companies that form the Tire Industry Project (TIP), representing approximately 65% of the world’s tyre manufacturing capacity, announced continued progress on research projects addressing key sustainability issues in the industry.
TIP operates under the umbrella of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), the is tasked to identify and offer solutions to sustainability challenges associated with the life cycle of tyres. Key highlights of the latest research include findings on the safety of Tire and Road Wear Particles (TRWP) for human health and the environment as well as a report on end-of-life tires (ELT), which included management methods, recovery routes and recovery rates in 51 countries.
