The UNEP/SETAC Life Cycle Initiative has a number of flagship projects one of which is to develop guidance on LCA Database conformance with the Global (Shonan) Guidance Principles (SGP).
AusLCI is participating in a review by international experts on both management aspects of the database and individual LCI dataset conformance. The AusLCI committee has undertaken a self-assessment against a range of management criteria including transparency of database ownership and support for technical issues.
In the coming months around 15 dataset will be evaluated to see how well the AusLCI data meets the criteria established for international databases. This is important as AusLCI data are now routinely being used around the world by LCA practitioners.
