Life Cycle Initiative launches Hotspot Analysis Tool
January 16, 2019
The Life Cycle Initiative has announced the launch of the Hotspot Analysis Tool for the Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP-HAT). Working with the One Planet Network and the International Resource Panel, the online tool is now ready to help countries identify hotspot areas and has already been piloted in Argentina, Ivory Coast and Kazakhstan.
The tool provides three modules to analyse hotspot areas: a Country Profile, SCP Hotspots and a National Data System module. The first module provides key information regarding the country’s environmental performance, in the context of the most relevant policy questions while the second module offers a wide range of SCP indicators to analyse hotspots of unsustainable consumption and production at country and sector levels. The National Data System module delivers the option of inserting national data to receive more tailored results. Implementing partners, WU Vienna and CSIRO, as well as KGM & Associates contributed to the project as well.
For further details and the chance to try the tool yourself, consult the SCP-HAT website.
