Study supports combining LCA and QRA

June 6, 2017

Yumi Kobayashi (formerly at UNSW) finished her doctoral thesis with a paper building on the foundation of a detailed, quantitative risk assessment (QRA) of air quality in Melbourne. By extending a QRA by EPA Victoria and the CSIRO, and combining it with a broader LCA, Dr Kobayashi and her supervisors Greg Peters and Stuart Khan were able to show that different conclusions about the potential benefits of pollution control policies should be made. This is another case study that supports the proposition that detailed QRA and broad LCA studies benefit from being combined.
