Perth Apartment Complex Cuts Carbon Emissions by 64%
September 12, 2016
Developer Psaros’ 22-unit Bravo Apartments recently underwent a lifecycle analysis to see if the suite of sustainability initiatives built in had realised tangible outcomes.
The initiatives included solar systems for each apartment and common areas, solar hot water, solar passive design, energy efficient lighting and appliances and high performance building materials.
The lifecycle analysis by ALCAS member eTool found that over a year the complex enjoyed a 64% reduction in greenhouse gas emissaions compared with a typical building of similar size. Energy savings of $20,000 for the building, or $500 per resident per year, have been achieved.
Psaro’s head of sustainability Chiara Pacifici claims the building is Perth’s most environmentally sustainable apartment development to date.
